Hello you lucky people

...You are stuck with me AGAIN! Dad hasn't asked
me to fill in this time but I saw the tally of
postings piling up and decided to let you have a
new space. Aunt Pat is bringing Dad his laptop
later on and he hopes to get up here this coming
week and at least peek in to see what is going on
with everyone. He is in good hands here in the
hospital - and of course is trying to get all the
nurses to run off with him. I don't have a lot
more to add, so I'll hand it back over to all of
you. Hope you're all having a good weekend.

Pardon me, but...

I have been asked to step in for Dad and let you
have a fresh page to start your weekend with. Aunt
Pat called me midday on Dad's behalf asking I come
out here so - here I am! Now... what to say? I am
not so used to this.
But I guess it is a good time to start fresh.
After all, that's exactly what Dad is doing in
Monroe and what I will be doing here in a couple
weeks when I skip town and wander for a while.
I hope everyone has a good time out here in our
sandbox this weekend. You probably won't see Dad,
Lynn or I for the next little bit in here. Dad is
getting settled in of course, while Lynn and I are
going to spend the weekend together and see what
we can get into so he can live vicariously through
us. What's everyone else going to find to do with
themselves? I hope it's fun whatever it is - fill
us in on the details!

Moving on in a couple of days

And hope I get able to do a better job of
bringing you the saga of recovering with Pat and
John and all your kind words. Stay tuned and
have fun out here in the meantime. That keeps a
smile on MY face.

HAPPY 4TH

Always fun for shut-ins to look out and see great
friends and family having fun romping and playing
in the backyard I have built. Watching the bees
and birds and weather is okay, but to see real
folks having fun with each other is even better.
***** I look forward soon to getting out here
for some straight sharing with you folks who I
have kept locked out now for a few months. Will
get my feet on the ground in a week or so
courtesy of my sister, Pat, and her husband,
John, in their home a few hours from here while I
begin rehabbing this old body for its next life.
***** Catch ya' along that trail. Always nice
to have you in the saddle with me. Thanks for
the ride.

Hey, Fran

Flip your last riddle answer around, score big,
and move on to a new riddle for Jess in this
clean sheet on the sandbox clothesline. You just
can't read your own writing, or write your own
reading. You are a mess. A mess I love.

Summer arrives

These longest days have been some of my dimmest
as my body has been in the shop four times as
long as Fran's 'puter. Have tortured Lynn and
Anne with something perhaps neither fatal nor
finite. They have served above and beyond.
***** I look in here once in a while to see how
the sandboxers are doing. Nice to see friends at
play. Catch ya' along the trail again when I get
back on the horse. Smile at a stranger today.

Some things just get your feet moving.

The high point of my day so far had been in just
simply contemplating upon my deceased mom's 98th
birthday ... and then today's mail brought my
own "birthday" card. This was from the poet
laureate of my CRAK (Committing Random Acts of
Kindness) Patrol. It might be the first time in
our long friendship. Maybe heard my chassis
grinding, my muffler bleating, or my wheels
wobbling with flat tires. Whatever, the message
sure picked me up just the way good friends
always do. ***** The front of the Hallmark card
reads "For a SPECIAL FRIEND -- In our lives, if
we're lucky, we'll have all kinds of friends.
And although we appreciate them all for different
reasons, there are some we come to cherish. You,
without a doubt, fall into this last category.
You are the friend who never, ever bores me, the
friend I am always glad to see and who never lets
me down. You are that special friend who knows
I'm far from perfect and accepts me anyway.
We've shared a lot, good and bad, and you've
proven you can be counted on." ***** The inside
of the card continues, "All these things and so
many more come together to make you more than
just an everyday friend. You're a lifetime
friend." ***** So, you ask, where does the
poetry come in? Well, that's handwritten on the
post-it note that covers the HAPPY BIRTHDAY at
the end. This message says, "Bob When I read
this card, while looking for some else, I though
of you instantly. Hope it catches up with you
somewhere along the path of 'the Traveling
Man'." ***** Now that's some pretty powerful
poetry to my ears. How about yours? ***** Also
a belated get well wish to good friend Dave Guss
who had an appendectomy today. Dave has always
been there for me, and this is the closest I can
come to being there for him right now. I know he
understands and is happy to have wife, Sharon,
tending to him in my absence. Get well quickly,
Big Guy!

That would be Anne, Lynn, and David (see mystery
guest photo album to your left). Yesterday they
took Asheville apart and, hopefully, put parts of
it back together again. But I will let them tell
that story. Make yours a grand day.

My HIGH POINT for the day so far today!!!

Right out of the blue he walked in on me. I was
just languishing under a Brevard tree for some
shade, and he recognized my camper, saw the door
open, and found me gasping in the heat on my
bunk. In fifteen minutes we had more than made
up for three years of missing by days and hours
all around the country -- Oregon, Florida,
Nashville, points in between. Last time together
was in Chilliwack, BC. Too long. But we will
catch up again in just the same fashion next
time, too. And it is never too soon for either
of us. Can you guess who the mystery man is?
Dumped two pictures of him to the side -- one in
shades in case his agent disallows private
pictures of celebrities. HA HA Best thing that
has happened to this old Travelin' Man in weeks.
***** So check the photo album, identify the
dude, then look up his link on this website --
perhaps he is playing soon in some area of the
country where you are or have friends who want to
go hear the best in blue grass. And, after the
concert, go up and shake hands while telling the
big lug I sent you. If he isn't worth the money,
I will refund your ticket price.

Thanks for delivering the Sunday comics to my door

Just got back in wifiland for the frist time in
forever. Rumor is that I am fighting some occult
pain and seeing the world through narcotic eyes
between visits to docs and hospitals. Truth is
that I am doing it all with a stiff upper lip.
Why? So you can get another good chuckle by
imagining my silly puss with a lip full of rigor
mortise. Add that image to your own neat
accounts that gave me laughs this Sunday in the
library parking lot. Your reward is a cleaan
sheet to muddy until I rise again. I am soooooo
proud of each of you for carrying on and for
carrying me with you. Thanks. Happy June!
